GOLDFIELDS LANGUAGE CENTRE PRODUCES VOICE EXPLAINERS IN LANGUAGE
A language organisation in the Goldfields is creating a series of videos in local Indigenous languages about the Voice to Parliament and how voting will work.
Kalgoorlie’s Goldfields Language Centre is working with communities in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands on the project and expects the videos to be available in June.
Goldfields Language Centre Senior Linguist and Manager Susan Hanson said her organisation had liaised with remote communities, and that a lack of understanding about the Voice referendum is a serious problem.
“Many people are saying that they don’t get enough information to make a really good decision,” she said.
“So we’re listening very hard and we’re taking that information back to the Government and back to the Electoral Commission.”
