YARN WITH TRANSGENDER SISTAGIRL CHARLOTTE COULTHARD-DARE

 On Gadigal country in Sydney, The first World Pride Festival to occur in the southern hemisphere concluded on Sunday.

Last week, Adnyamathanha transgender woman Charlotte Coulthard-Dare hosted a breakout session at the Sydney WorldPride 2023: Human Rights Conference around fairness and safety in the justice system.

She said it was important that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander queer people were represented.

“Look, even just being a black LBGTIQ person, that’s a minority within a minority, within a minority,” she said.

“We’re not just black people but we’re also queer people on top of that, and we get discriminated against each and every day just for being ourselves.”

The conference featured LGBTQ+ speakers from across Australia and around the world.
