POLICE TO CHARGE PARTY GOERS WHO WOULD NOT ‘MOVE ON’
In the Pilbara, Roebourne Police have vowed to charge up to 50 people who ignored a move on order in Crawford Way early Sunday morning.
Senior Sergeant Mark Barratt said several officers attended an out-of-control gathering of up to 100 people, some of them fighting, outside Roebourne’s frail aged hostel.
“There were rocks, there were stubbies thrown at the police vehicles and despite our requests, people stuck around to watch what was going on.”
Sen. Sgt Barratt said the offence attracted a maximum penalty of $12,000 fine or three years imprisonment.
“Make no mistake about it I’m going to go through all of our CCT, all of our body-worn camera footage and I will make sure that I can identify as many people as possible and I will make them accountable for not doing what they're told. Not complying with the community expectations of doing the right thing and having respect for our community and having respect for our elders.”
