NGURLAMA STUDENTS DESIGNS HOCKEY JERSEY FOR SCHOOL TEAM
A young Ngurlama boy has created the Indigenous t-shirt design for the Wesley College’s hockey team.
Romy Watcher Churnside, has been playing hockey at the school since he was in Year 7. He is now in Year 12 and concentrating on his studies.
He said he felt honoured by the opportunity.
“It was really surprising, but I felt so proud to be able to do something for my team that I play for,” he said.
Mr Churnside said the symbols in the design are to represent the connection that the team have with each other.
“It's a depiction of the connected water holes and all the streams and waterways, which really symbolises the journey of these individuals because … they're all in this journey together,” he said.
