The Dockers have officially changed their name to Walyalup Football Club for the AFL and AFLW Indigenous rounds.

Walyalup is the Noongar country name in and around Fremantle, where the Dockers are based.

The team will also wear the Indigenous jersey and have a new logo that features a wargyl, a rainbow serpent and a yondock, an ancestral crocodile.

The Docker's name change follows Melbourne changing their name to Naarm last year.

Walyalup held a smoking ceremony with the entire club involved and Football Captain Alex Pearce praised the club's strong history of supporting Indigenous culture.
