MARBLE BAR WANTS RACES BACK

All Marble Bar Race Club meetings are held in Roebourne this year.

Marble Bar Race Club plans to resume race meetings at its own track as soon as possible.

Committe member Amy Pfitzner said they had already set a date.

“The first Saturday in July 2023 is definitely the plan at this point,” sh esaid.

Ms Pfitzner said they were holding their regular fixtures at Roebourne this year.

She said the requirements of holding a race meeting in 2022, such as security and toilets, had become very expensive and they were unable to pass on all costs to racegoers.

“It doesn’t cost that much to hire a few toilets,” she said. “T’s all the rest that comes with it: waste management and making sure that they’re kept clean and transporting them across the country. That’s where the cost for those toilets comes from and the biggest barrier that we have to doing things out there.”

Ms Pfitzner said they were meeting Shire representatives and other stakeholders with a view to bringing costs down.
