The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) will shift its focus to work more collaboratively with First Nations people rather than on their behalf.

The change in direction follows an extensive consultation process with many different First Nations communities.

The Corporation's CEO Joe Morrison explained the more collaborative change in direction.

‘it’s effectively that the ILSC is supporting Indigenous land aspirations,’’ he said.

‘‘And instead of in the old days, [when] the ILC established businesses and running [sic] them on behalf of Indigenous people, we’ve certainly seen a dramatic change in Indigenous people wanting to do things themselves’’.

The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation was set up to help return lands to their rightful Indigenous custodians through Native Title.
