HEDLAND DAYCARE FIRES STAFF FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT ON A 1 HALF YEAR OLD
In early June this year, Delvine Davis got some devastating news.
She arrived at her daycare her one-year-old son attended after she was called in by the manager on an urgent request.
“She explained to me two weeks prior to her getting in touch with me, my son had been altercated. He’d been basically hit by a staff member at the daycare”.
Mrs. Davis is a Noongar woman but was born and raised in Port Hedland. After hearing this incident, she was shocked and broke down into tears.
“All I could picture was my baby’s head getting pushed back by this adult woman who was supposed to be protecting her”.
Since the incident, the accused daycare staff has been fired.
No charges have been laid against the daycare worker, the three witnesses have not made a statement, which means no charges can be laid.
Senior Sergeant Gordon Armstrong from South Hedland police says the investigation is still active and that a complaint about the assault has been made. Charges have not been laid yet.
The daycare involved said that they do not condone the mistreatment of children and the staff member involved has been dismissed.
