YINDJIBARNDI APP CALLED 'WANTHIWA' BECOMES MERIT RECIPIENT FOR TECH DIVERSITY AWARDS 2024

Yindjibarndi creation story language app has become a merit recipient in the TechDiversity Awards 2024, in the Tech for Good category.

The app results from a collaboration between Brains Design, Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation, Juluwarlu Art Group, and the Yindjibarndi community.

For the Yindjibarndi people, this is a sign of recognition of their efforts to use technology to celebrate and preserve the diversity and rich Yindjibarndi language and culture.

Lorraine Coppin, CEO of Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation said with changing times having a digital presence has become increasingly important. 

“it's important for the survival of who we are as Yindjibarndi Nation,” she said.

She said the Juluwarlu Group is willing to share its expertise and welcomes people who want to participate actively and contribute.

“The next Generation is the key for the Yindjibarndi survival, so me and my husband Michael, we always on a journey of finding, you know, who's interested from the next generation and try and Empower them and involve them in our projects.”
