A Noongar woman now living in South Hedland says she feels unsafe in the Housing Authority home she has just moved into.

Sophie Davis said she was also just next door to a house which was the scene of a brawl that made it onto national TV news.

“I’ve been desperate for a place of my own, thinking that I will be safe,” she said. “And I see the home that I’ve been offered and I don’ feel safe, because the security screen doors don’t lock, no window locking in any of the rooms and there’s no glass window in the main bedroom.”

The WA Housing Authority has been contacted for comment.
