INTERVIEW: WA CAMPAIGNER SAYS NO TO THE VOICE IN CANBERRA

BY GERARD MAZZA

Noongar activist Marianne Mackay travelled to Canberra this week to campaign against the Voice to Parliament.

Ms Mackay joined Senator Lidia Thorpe, Warlpiri Elder Ned Hargreaves and other First Nations leaders to represent the Blak Sovereign movement.

Ms Mackay said Aboriginal people in Western Australia were uncertain about the Voice

“When you mention the Voice, they talk about that show on Channel 7, that singing show,” she said.

“The government are not getting down on the ground because they are disconnected from the community.”
