UNITY THROUGH ART: KEVIN WHYMAN’S VISION

Kevin Whyman has been working on a remarkable Aboriginal artwork symbolising unity among diverse community groups. "I designed artwork that represents unity, highlighting the different mobs across this vast country," he explains. This artwork is more than just a visual representation; it serves as a powerful reminder of the connections that bind various Aboriginal communities together, celebrating their unique identities while fostering a spirit of collaboration.

Kevin’s community group’s purpose is to support one another and uplift local initiatives across Australia. "We get together to help communities that might be struggling, providing support through sponsorships and donations," he emphasises. This collective effort ensures that resources and opportunities are shared, ultimately benefiting young and old alike. The group also engages with local youth centres, providing essential supplies and support to those in need.

A distinctive aspect of their identity is their artwork, which incorporates tribal symbols and designs that reflect individual heritage and culture. "This art shows where we come from, reinforcing that we are not just a group but a family," Kevin shares. This sense of belonging and pride is central to their mission, as they strive to connect with the broader community while respecting their cultural boundaries. Through art and camaraderie, Kevin and his group aim to build a brighter future for future generations.
