Tom Price State Emergency Service (SES) members were called to Karajini National Park on Sunday after a woman slipped and fell three metres in Weano Gorge.

The SES performed a vertical rescue which involved abseiling over one hundred metres down the gorge to assist the woman.

The 45-year-old was taken to Tom Price Hospital, suffering severe bruises and a broken finger, but was able to be released the same day.

Tom Price SES Unit Manager Sue Davies said there were a number of things individuals could do to keep themselves safe if they get in trouble in the bush.

“Take it easy; take it slow,” she said.

“Wearing appropriate footwear is a huge must.

“If something happens, stay where you are and let help come to you.”
