TIME TO ASK ‘ARE YOU OK?’
Today is RUOK Day, a national day of action when Australians are reminded that every day is the day to ask: ‘are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.
BHP has invited Haka for Life founder and former Wickham resident Leon Ruri to speak to Pilbara workers today.
“If you can create an environment where people can talk and open up you normalise conversations around mental health, mental well-being, you’re more likely to see people remain at work and also go and seek support services themselves as well,” he said.
Mr Ruri said when someone did open up about their problems, it was vital to listen to what they had to say without judgment and without interrupting.
