In the Pilbara, Point Samson saw Police officers, family and friends turn out for the Police Legacy fishing tournament.

Roebourne Senior sergeant Dale Harmer said they raised funds for the families of Police Officers who had lost their lives in the course of their duties.

“It’s the Desert to Reef fishing tournament,” he said. “Fifty boats, a lot of coppers, a lot of people from all over Western Australia all went down there, had a great day,” he said. “I understand the first day was a bit windy and a few boys went out and braved it up. The second day was beautiful. So it was a very successful day and legacy will appreciate that. And the people who receive that money will really appreciate that.”

The next fundraiser will be the “Bloody Slow Cup”, a social rugby tournament at Newman next month.
