TEENAGED NOONGAR BOY KILLED

A 15-year-old Noongar boy attacked while walking home after school has died of his injuries.

The West Australian says police have charged Jack Steven James Brearley, 21, with Cassius Turvey’s murder.

A police statement says Brearley was a passenger in a black Ford Ranger utility which approached a group of children who were walking along Patterson Drive in Middle Swan around 4.30pm on Thursday, October 13.

“It will be alleged the male exited the vehicle and ran towards the group before assaulting a 15-year-old boy with a metal pole,” police say.

“The 15-year-old boy and group ran towards nearby Midland Tafe where an ambulance was called. 

“The boy received serious head injuries, and later died in hospital on Sunday October 23.”

Social media has been alive with messages of outrage and condolence since Cassius died.

Mr Brearley is next to due to appear in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on November 9.
