Plans to relaunch the Broome Aboriginal music festival Stompem Ground in May have been put on hold.

Organiser Mark Bin Bakar explained.

"We were going to plan a relaunch of the idea of the Stompem Ground festival because it takes a lot of time and money and stuff like that," he said.

"But we decided to postpone the launch of the re-establishment of Stompem Ground due to COVID.

"Everything is unpredictable and we need the numbers at the gate to pay for the event itself so it's too risky."
