Local Indigenous artist Xavier Dhurrkay has designed artwork for the St John Karratha sub centre.

Mr. Dhurrkay hopes that his painting will speak for itself in helping identify his cultural background.

“Bridge that gap between non-Indignenous and Indigenous mob around the Pilbara and Australia,” he said.

His digital artwork has been made into the St John new t-shirts and represents all the support that the St John facilities provide to the community.

St John Paramedic, Shannan Bradley says that they need to recognise the culture of the Yindjibarndi and Ngurluma people.

“I think its just to know that there is a time for us to listen and there is a time for us to learn,” she said.

“To make sure that we as ambulance are being culturally sensitive in the care that we deliver to our community.”
