SIBOSADO PUTS HER HAND UP AGAIN

Nyikina and Bardi woman Cherie Sibosado says she is seeking Labor party endorsement to recontest the seat of North West Central.

“In the event that I get an opportunity to be considered I definitely am keen to put my hand up but I don’t have any decision making power at this stage,” she said. “But following the announcement by the incumbent member, there’s a lot of hype and buzz around it so an opportunity’s presenting. So we’ll just wait and see.”

Ms Sibosado, a community  leader and Carnarvon businesswoman, stood unsuccessfully for the seat in last year’s State Election.

She outpolled sitting Nationals member Vince Catania by 39 primary votes, but after adding preferences from Liberals and others he defeated her by 259 votes.

Mr Catania has announced he will quit politics in August.

ALP state secretary Ellie Whiteaker said pre-selection would most likely be decided at the Party’s Administrative Committee meeting in Perth next month.
