ROEBOURNE TO HOST MARBLE BAR RACES
This year’s Marble Bar races will be hosted by the Nor West Jockey Club in Roebourne.
Club president Natasha Ball said difficult weather conditions in Marble Bar and also Port Hedland had made both clubs unable to host race meetings this year, so Roebourne was happy to help out.
“As a small race club ourselves we understand the challenges and the mountain of work that people have to pull together to host a race meeting is just gi-normous,” she said. “We’ve reached out the hand of friendship and taken on that task and hopefully we can do the right thing by those clubs and pull off a good day.”
Ms Ball said the only other race track to host meetings this season would be Newman.
The Nor West Jockey Club hosted its first official meet over the past weekend.
“The track was fantastic,” she said. “The rain that we had leading up to our first meeting did the track a whole lot of good. Everyone was impressed with the track and everyone that came enjoyed themselves so we as a committee are pretty pleased with that.”
The club will meet again for Ladies Day on June 25.
