Gamileroi man and Deadly Science founder Corey Tutt has been granted an Order of Australia Medal for service to Indigenous Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education.

“I feel very lucky and humbled to have received an Order of Australia for my commitment to STEM education in remote communities,” he said. “It’s really important for me that we acknowledge that there’s a lot of really deadly people that do work in the community and this is my chance and my voice to acknowledge them. Whilst being acknowledged officially I wanted to pay my respect to them.”

Mr Tutt started his charity several years ago, self-publishing science books for Aboriginal children and sending them out from his bedroom.

He now supplies STEM resources to children from Sydney to Torres Strait and across to the Kimberley.
