ABORIGINAL LEGAL SERVICE GETS NEW CEO
The WA Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) welcomed a new CEO last week.
Western Australian lawyer and Noongar, Djaru and Yindjibarndi man Wayne Nannup brings extensive social leadership experience to the role, having served as South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC) CEO from 2015 to 2020.
Mr Nannup said there were a number of serious issues for ALS to tackle.
“There are some key topics that are out there at the moment that ALS are very much involved in,” he said.
“Clearly we think about age of criminality. I think about what’s happening at Banksia Hill. I think about how we could potentially assist better in the domestic violence space. So there’s a raft of serious topics that need to be challenged.”
