A Pini woman from the northern Goldfields has left the public service after 15 years as Aboriginal Affairs manager for the WA Police.

Wanita Bartholemeusz said she had seen a lot of progress made in relationships between Police and Aboriginal people in her time.

“It hasn’t always been easy,” she said. “There’s even challenges being a woman at times in the past, let alone an Aboriginal woman and a young Aboriginal woman. But I’m proud they’ve definitely come a long way although there is work still to be done.”
