PILBARA GRADUATES HONOURED AT NORTH REGIONAL TAFE

Yindjibarndi men, Gregory Dodd and Tyrone McKenna are looking for work in the mining industry and have the qualifications to make that dream come true.

After completing the excavation and front-end loader courses, both men graduated from the North Regional TAFE last week.

“The front-end loader has a bucket out the front that you can use to pick up dirt, Tyrone explained. Inside the cabin, it’s cool, they got aircon in there, and you’re free from the heat so you ain’t going to die out there. I want to get a job with Rio Tinto.”

Gregory Dodd said the excavation machine is challenging.

“I’d really like to learn more about the excavator because front-end loaders are like driving forklifts. I’m looking for wark and hopefully might get out to the Telfer site to get some shutdown work.”
