ONLINE BOOKINGS FOR NATURE BASED CAMPING

In the Pilbara, visitors to a popular campground will be able to book their favourite site online before setting out on their holiday.

Karratha mayor Peter Long said the system was being trialled at Gnoorea Point (Forty Mile) campground.

“Many of our visitors have specific requirements for their camping set ups and some actually return year after year,” he said. “Some have been coming for 20 years or more and they have their favourite site.

“This will actually be a lot better for visitors. It means they will be able to get the time they want in the place they want to book which currently our system won’t allow, so we think it’s going to be a big benefit to them.”

The address for bookings is karratha.wa.gov.au/camping .

Mr Long said three more campgrounds near the creek would be reserved for Traditional Owners, who would not be charged and who did not need to make a booking.
