NOONGAR LANGUAGE CLASSES COMING TO VICTORIA PARK SOON
Non-Indigenous Australians will learn about the culturally appropriate use of the Noongar language in classes happening next month on Noongar boodja.
Whadjuk-Ballardong Noongar man and language teacher Dylan Collard said he’s inspired to keep his language and culture alive.
Mr. Collard welcomes everybody to his lessons, starting next month in Victoria Park, to provide cultural insights into the appropriate use of the language.
“People want to be able to show respect in learning it, but they also have to be careful how they use it,” he said.
“Part of my language teachings reinforce that at my lessons, it is a safe space to use the language, but not everywhere is.”
You can find out more and register for Noongar language classes in Victoria Park, starting on Wednesday May 3.
