NGAARDA WILA HOUR - FRIDAY THE 3RD OF FEBRUARY 2023

On this week’s Ngaarda Wila hour with Marion Cheedy:

  • The Pertame School in the Northern Territory has been sharing the endangered Pertame language with younger generations since 2016. Now, the school plans to build a new centre to share language on country.

  • Stellar Moon is a Nyikina singer from the Kimberley who is on a tour WA. Against the odds, and after some car troubles today, she’ll be performing in Karratha tonight. We’ll meet her this hour.

  • Monday is Waitangi Day, marking the signing of a Treaty between the Maori and colonizers in New Zealand. We’ll hear about how one small town in the Pilbara will mark the occasion.

Have a listen!
