TWO PEOPLE WERE FATALLY INJURED IN A TRUCK ACCIDENT NEAR CARNARVON

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Wooramel (approximately 119kms south of Carnarvon) on Sunday 4 December 2022 at 10 past one in the morning. 

SAVE OUR SONGLINES ADVOCATE’S HOME RAIDED

Mardudhunera woman and save our song lines advocate Raelene Cooper gave evidence in court last week during the trial of three climate protestors who blocked access to Woodside's operations in the Pilbara in 2021. 

While Ms Cooper was giving evidence at the trial, Police raided Ms Cooper’s property at 11:45 am on Thursday morning last week. 

CELEBRATIONS FOR A DECADE OF NITV

This month marks 10 years since National Indigenous Television, or NITV began broadcasting on free-to-air TV across Australia.

NITV will hold a massive concert at Uluru on the 12th of December to mark the occasion, featuring acts including King Stingray, Tory Casser-Daly, and Christine Anu. The concert will be live on SBS and NITV next Monday 12 December at 7.30 pm.

YOUTH CRIME PREVENTION SUCCESS 

A West Australian program is having success in keeping young kids away from crime.

The Target 120 program has been going on for three years and has decreased youth crime rates.

CURTIN INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IMMERSED IN ABORIGINAL CULTURE

Curtin University’s college for international students has won an award for an Aboriginal cultural immersion project.

Curtin College’s 'Gija Jumulu' program, designed with the university’s Centre for Aboriginal Studies, has been named the Council for International Students of Western Australia, International Education Program of the Year.
