STOLEN ROEBOURNE STATUES RECOVERED
The last of three Indigenous art statues in the town of Roebourne that were damaged or stolen has been recovered.
The statues are part of an installation that sat on Mt Welcome above the town of Roebourne.
The installation was made up of seven metal statues in total.
Each of the statues represents an Indigenous language group residing in the area.
The City of Karratha announced the recovery on Facebook, stating ‘We are working with contractors to arrange repairs and to reinstall [the statue] as soon as possible’.
Local police declined to comment on any investigations into the vandalism of the statues.
