Karratha vigilante arrested

A posting on a self-styled vigilante group on Facebook.

BEN MURPHY AND GEOFF VIVIAN

Police have arrested a man connected with a Karratha new facebook group whose founder described it as a “vigilante group”.

He is charged with incitement to commit an indictable offence, stealing, failing to secure ammunition, and possessing a prohibited weapon.

The founder of “Consequences for Crime” also known as “C4C” said they were taking matters into their own hands.

The group was targeting houses of people in their neighborhood they say are causing excessive noise, and patrolling neighborhoods for potential thieves overnight.

The group has set up a system for targeting houses on a scale from one to four.

It is unclear what specific actions members of the group have taken once a house has been targeted.

Admins of the group have told people commenting on the page that if they don’t agree with their actions or comments they should stay quiet or be removed.

Before the arrest Karratha Police had told Ngaarda Media they don’t support the group and do not condone its actions.

The group could not be contacted for comment.
