In the NT’s Kakadu National Park, the Mirarr Traditional Owners of the Ranger Uranium Mine are appalled by a report the mine operator Energy Resources of Australia Ltd has released.

Ngaarda Media’s Geoff Vivian reports:

Meanwhile, the West Australian says Energy Resources of Australia chairman Peter Mansell and his fellow independent directors have committed to quit the company amid an extraordinary confrontation with its biggest shareholder, Rio Tinto.

However, ERA said on Monday that Mr Mansell, Paul Dowd and Shane Charles would only step down when ERA had finalised funding for the potential $2 billion ehabilitation of the mothballed Ranger uranium mine.

Rio Tinto, which owns about 86 per cent of ERA, had called for Mr Mansell’s resignation yesterday.
