Headspace’s new centre in Karratha.

The Youth mental health service Headspace has a new office in Karratha.

Headspace area manager Samara Clark said young people needing help were welcome to just turn up to the new venue next to the Youth Shed in Pegs Creek.

"There's workers there that can journey with young people when things aren't going too right for them," they said.

SAMARA CLARK GRAB 1 (12 sec)They said Headspace had plans for a new building in Hedland, and had extended the “roaming outreach” service.

"So what that means now with a centre in Karratha and a centre in Hedland, we're able to support more young people in more towns. So we're already increased the number of towns that we're able to go into and more town will come on line in the next 18 months."

The service is now available in Karratha, Hedland, Newman, Tom Price, Roebourne, Wickham, Dampier, Panawonica and Paraburdoo, with plans to extend to Onslow early next year.
