HAY WINS WORLD SONGWRITING AWARD

Geraldton singer-songwriter Darcy Hay has won “Best Alternative Song” in an international competition.
Hay said he was inspired to write the song “Sleeping Dogs” after he lost his beloved pet.
“He was my best friend, my shadow, like a lot of people with their dogs,” Hay said.
“A very close member of the family and to lose him shattered me.”
He said he did not know much about who organised the “World Songwriting Awards” other than that they appeared to be in the United States.
“It’s a very grandious name for what I suspect is a rather small organisation,” he said.
“But it’s still quite a thrill.”
