Monday is Waitangi Day, the national day of New Zealand.

The date marks the anniversary of the initial signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, which is regarded as the founding document of the nation.

Leon Ruri is the founder of Haka for Life, an organisation dedicated to suicide prevention and raising awareness regarding men’s mental health.

He’ll be traveling to Pannawonica for Waitangi Day to teach haka and commemorate the occasion with the local community.

He spoke to Ngaarda Media’s Gerry Mazza.

A public event for Waitangi Day will be held at the Pannawonica Sports Centre on Monday evening from 6 pm.
