The Deaths in Custody Watch Committee has launched a petition for an urgent review of the WA justice system.

The petition asks the Parliament to review potential solutions for racial discrimination within WA’s justice system, including a ban on all-white juries.

Ballardong Noongar man and Deaths in Custody Watch Committee Deputy Chairperson Desmond Blurton said the justice system is not fair for First Nations people.

“We are over-represented in incarceration, yet we can’t get our people to be represented on juries,” he said.

“We need to be tried by our own peers.”

Mr Blurton said the petition will be handed over to Parliament at a rally on March 29.
