17 COVID cases in Bidyadanga community
The Aboriginal community of Bidyadanga has been hit with COVID. There are now 17 confirmed COVID cases in the community.
Bidyadanga is the biggest Aboriginal community in WA with around 850 people living there.
Marion Cheedy spoke to community resident Billy Jo Shoveller who said houses had up to ten people living in them and shops will be shut.
“They’ve told us to stay at home and the police and medical teams would be in town to test everybody in the community.”
Mr. Shoveller also said it was the quietest he’s ever seen in the community due to people staying in their houses.
“At the moment we don’t even know if we’re allowed to go outside.”
He said people were anxious about wearing masks.
