Aboriginal people have enormous opportunity to benefit from the landcare and minesite revegetetation projects in WA’s Midwest, Wheatbelt and South, WA Agriculture minister Alannah MacTiernan says.

Ms MacTiernan chaired a workshop for Noongar and Yamaji people at Northam this week.

They learned about the unmet demand for wild seed harvesting, propagation and planting to rehabilitate degraded land.

“It’s estimated that there will be a demand for about 39 million trees to be planted in those areas in the coming season but we’ve only got capacity at the moment for 22 million trees,” she said.
