Pilbara mother takes on the New York Marathon
Natasha Shires is from the Worimi tribe in N.S.W. and she’s getting ready for the New York Marathon that is coming up in November. Joining the Indigenous Marathon Project has given Ms Shires hope for the future. “About a year and a half a go my husband and I separated so I kind of went down into a bit of depression.” “(I) Started drinking a bit. It was hard not to know where my life was going and I kind of lost myself, you see I thought I was going to be a wife and a mum.” Ms. Shires wants to inspire her daughters through her journey and has started the K-town Deadly IMF supporters group on Facebook.
