The Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation (YAC) will hold the first Yindjibarndi Expo next week in Ieramagadu/Roebourne.

The event on 25 June will include discussions on the Yindjibarndi nation, its plans and projects, and its direction for the future.

The day will include lunch, music, prizes, a Q&A session, employment information and a jumping castle.

YAC Chief Executive Michael Woodley said the Expo would showcase the achievements of the Yindjibarndi people over the last 13 years.

“It’s about Yindjibarndi’s growth: what we’ve been working on in terms of our ‘3Cs’ model, which is how we’d like to establish Yindjibarndi from community, culture and commercial points of view.

“That comes with the mentality, ‘the rising tide lifts all ships.’ Everybody’s entitled to an opportunity. Everyone’s entitled to be valued.

“We want to make sure the projects and programs we establish are for all Yindjibarndi people. No matter what age, qualification, skill level, we think we can find a spot for you in terms of you doing something for yourself.”

The Yindjibarndi Expo will be held at the Ganalili Centre from 10 am on Tuesday 25 July.
