“We encourage all our mob to complete the census, this is our only chance that all of us can be heard together. Our services are going to be provided and you know, it’s our largest platform to have our say.”
For those remote Aboriginal communities, the Australian Bureau of Statistics may have already visited your country however, due to the COVID-19 restriction the ABS has stop outreach programs but is expect to continue once the restrictions are eased.
ABS has also tailored its approach to suit first nation needs such as the language barrier and the remotness of community locations. ABS has employed locals that speak the local native language to help support those that aren’t English speakers, also providing teams to travel these remote communities This information will also be stated in the census to allow Australia to understand that there are major communities still and only speak their native tongue.
