WA MAIN ROADS DRIVING AMERICA'S MONSTER UTES DODGE RAM KNOWN FOR FUEL INEFFICIENCY

BY ASAD KHAN

Western Australians were surprised after spotting a new American Monster Ute ‘Dodge Ram’ as part of the WA Main Roads fleet.

These Utes are notorious for their high fuel inefficiency and cost about $120,000.
The Albanese Labor Government recently introduced Vehicle Efficiency Standards to help combat emissions and tackle climate change.

However, critics say these standards contradict the move made by the WA Main Roads where Labor Government is also in power.

Peter Rundle, Nationals WA Deputy Leader said the move is ironic

“I think it's called ironic actually because we hear  in the Parliament many times WA Labor State Government, they refer to climate change, they talk about it in relation to their policies and this decision actually goes right against what they've been talking about.”

“ There are questions to be asked are the federal labor and state governments actually working together or is there any communication whatsoever

A WA Main Roads spokesperson told Ngaarda Media, the state fleet has been granted an exemption to lease the five Dodge Ram vehicles.

Mr Rundle also criticized the new Vehicle Efficiency Standards.

He said what the federal Minister forgot to tell everyone is that this is going to make Vehicles cost about ten thousand dollars more

“Dodge RAM provides additional towing capacity for incident responses and given the additional operational capacity and reduced need for multiple vehicles to attend incidents on the network, it would be expected for fuel consumption to be less overall.”
