TOTAL ECLIPSE CELEBRATED IN ONSLOW
Thousands travelled to the Pilbara town of Onslow to view yesterday’s total solar eclipse.
In Onslow, at the peak of the eclipse, the moon covered 99% of the sun.
The town held an all-day festival, with markets and bands playing on a stage at the waterfront.
Thalangi woman and Onslow resident Glenys Hayes gave a welcome to the eclipse in the local language.
Ms Hayes enjoyed the day and would like to see more events in Onslow.
“A few years back, we used to have a number of big events in the town and then of course, Covid happened, but that’s something that we’d like to certainly see happen again,” she said.
