In the Pilbara, Wickham Picture Gardens is in danger of closing after theives caused thousands of dollars worth of damage, only to steal lollies and drinks.

Treasurer Ruth Ellis said after three break ins the not-for-profit was having trouble finding insurance.

“We’ve made two insurance claims and we can’t really make any more claims,” she said. “Because they don’t want to insure us basically.”

Ms Ellis said children were causing the damage, and she pleaded with their parents and family members to keep an eye on the kids as it was run by volunteers for the community.

“We might have to just watch the movie with no kiosk open,” she said. “So you can’t buy anything, you just bring your own which would be really sad.”
