SUDDEN DEATH AT CAPE LAMBERT

A contractor died at Rio Tinto’s Cape Lambert facility last night.

A Rio Tinto spokesman said the cause of death was a “medical episode”.

“When the medical episode occurred, a mayday was initiated, where first responders quickly attended to our colleague, but very sadly he could not be revived,” he said.

“ WA Police and St John’s Ambulance also attended the scene.”

Roebourne Police Senior Sergeant Mark Barratt said they were preparing a report for the coroner.

Ngaarda Media understands the deceased was a 30-year-old man.
