The rising cost of living has created a big demand for South Hedland relief association Bloodwood Tree’s food relief services, accordiong to CEO Kelly Howlett.

“Particularly in this calendar year, there’s been a real spike in demand for support, particularly around food,” she said. “So all of our homelessness support services, whether it be the breakfast program, the soup kitchen, emergency relief or even our Mini Mart, all the demand for those services has gone up.”

Ms Howlett said Bloodwood Tree was always seeking volunteers aged 16 and over.
