SHALOM HOUSE GETS NATIONAL TELSTRA BUSINESS AWARD

In Sydney, Telstra has recognised a Christian rehabilitation program based in WA’s Swan Valley with a prestigious national award.

Shalom Group founder Peter Lyndon James said Shalom had weaned hundreds of men and women away from unemployment, addictions and the criminal justice system.

“So we’re a holistic rehabilitation centre that focuses as much on rehab along with re-integration and re-socialisation. All of our residents that come through Shalom get all their hard issues fixed. 90% is childhood trauma, stuff they have gone through as a child, they get all their family relationships restored. They all leave debt-free, off Centrelink within 4 - 7 months, with a new car, driver’s licence and working full time with an employer on the same page as the rehab and a with a strong network of community support with the new relationships that they’ve built.”

Mr Lyndon-James admitted not all of the people who entered the self-funded residential program completed it.

He said they were extending the program to Kalgoorlie and Victoria soon.
