One young woman from Ieramagadu/Roebourne had a heart to help people, so she decided to become a police officer.

Hannah Wielgomasz graduated from the Police Academy in September last year and is now serving as a Constable at Perth Police Station on Noongar country.

Constable Wielgomasz said a highlight of her job was building positive relationships.

“When you’re dealing with someone that you’ve arrested, at the start of the interaction, they don’t like you, they’re a bit frustrated with you,” she said.

“Sometimes by the end of the interaction, they’re actually all good with you. They say, ‘I’m sorry I was acting like this,’ and you’re actually good with them too, and then the next time you see them, they get excited to see you.”
