If you live in Ieramagadu/Roebourne, you might have noticed something unusual happening up on Mount Welcome this week.

A local artist is working with a visiting muralist to paint Ngaarda Radio’s new outside broadcast truck.

Roebourne painter Sarah Hicks designed the mural, and Sydney-based artist Patrick Hunter is helping her to bring it to life on a large scale.

The two artists have been working on the project at the top of Mount Welcome in Roebourne over the past couple of days.

Ms Hicks said the design was based on the Seven Sisters dreaming.

“This story been passed down to me from my grandmother, so I like to paint it to feel more close to her like she’s beside me when I’m painting it,” she said.

“My mother also is a part of Seven Sisters, so it’s something special for me.”

Ms Hicks and Mr Hunter expect to finish the mural today.
