In the Pilbara, Police are calling for witnesses to an incident that saw several horses injured and with one having to be put down at Robe River Rodeo.

Pannawonica Senior Sergeant Antoinette Cashmore said revellers spooked the animals by letting off firecrackers at night.

“[The horses] have tried to get out of where they are, in their little fenced area,” said Senior Sergeant Cashmore.

“My understanding is one of them hurt his leg. With fireworks or firecrackers going off, obviously he’s been spooked by that.”

Anyone with information or suspicions about who the offender might be is asked to call 131 444 and ask to leave a message for Pannawonica Police.
