ROBE RIVER RODEO DRAWS A CROWD
In the Pilbara, the 26th Annual Robe River Rodeo was held in Robe River Kuruma country over the weekend drawing rodeo enthusiasts from all over the state.
On Saturday, 1500 people had clocked into the event and many were waiting in long lines to enter the beer tent area.
Robe River Rodeo and camp draft president, Liam Geissmann entered the novice bull ride for the first time to raise money for the Dolly’s Dream charity.
“It was quick, I’ll tell you that,” Mr Geissmann said afterwards. “Next time I’ll try to hold on longer but it’s a Personal Best for me anyway.
Dolly’s Dream Charity raises awareness about suicide prevention.
“Dolly Everett passed away from suicide in 2014 and it was an initiative, the Foundation, that her parents put together to raise awareness,” he said. “I’m in the mining industry, mental health awareness is a major factor for us in the mining industry as well.”
Ngaarda Media then caught up with 17-year-old Banjima rider Xavier Cox, who is on his way to the USA.
